Hardest 13.6 miles ever. I met Tracey G., Rochelle and Sara K. at Lapham Peak with the intention of 14 miles on the Ice Age Trail, 2 out and backs. Most of the trails are off limits to runners now that they are covered in snow and the CC skiers are out. The first 3.6 miles took us 55 minutes. Wow, none of us were expecting that. Instead of turning around we crossed a state highway and got on the Glacial Drumlin Trail which is paved and was mostly cleared. I am so, so, so glad we did the middle portion of the run on that trail. All of us needed the break. We went from 16 minute miles to 9:30 miles. The last 3.5 back to the car was tough. The snow had not packed down at all. It was like running in sand where ever step forward is a partial step back. I was really struggling. But we did it. We finished. "We are the Champions" was playing when we got in the car. It was fantastic. And Sara K. and I went to the Lumber Inn in Delafield and ate a ton of yummy breakfast food.

Dang. Sounds like a tough run, but a great workout! Way to go Renee.

I'm so glad I had you and Tracey and Rochelle. I would have turned back at mile 2 otherwise. Thanks for the run and thanks for the pancakes afterward. :-)
