      Pick the right course. Run 80%-90% of your mileage at easy paces especially in the first 12 weeks of training. Do a lot of running at your goal marathon pace (8:35/mile should be in your genes by the end of training). Keep long run pace 45 sec- 1 minute slower than MP. Race sparingly, and never go all out, use HM's as pace runs. Run good rest better. I could go on..... Finally you need some luck.
