Rest Day
I feel way off today from not going to Boot Camp! I don't like it! But I needed the little extra bit of sleep.

Turning out to be a really long rest day Lori T... Checked out your blog: If you liked Food, Inc you should read The Omnivore's Dilemma. Food for thought. Pun intended. ;-)

haha! I actually have his other book.. can't remember the name. But yes, Omnivore's Dilemma has been mentioned for me to read. I heard it's better on tape version- a little dry to read- but nonetheless I'd love to read it!

I try to be, but I know I can do much better. You're far ahead of me in that area and that is extremely commendable of you. I try to eat very little beef (at most once every two to three months), eat some fish, some chicken, try to buy local, eat organic, eat fresh foods that are in season, etc... It's really scary when you start looking into how food is mass produced. (cont...)

(...cont) All the chemicals that are leeching into ground water in the Central Valley causing higher incidences of cancer and birth defects. Cows getting injected with antibiotics and that also ending up in the water supply by way of their waste. Not good. On the one hand we do need large scale farming to sustain our society. At the same time, though, we need to look at how much is wasted (Vegas buffets anyone?) and how there are ways to have large scale, but sustainable farming.

All true. It's so scary what "we" as society do to our planet and bodies... there are consequences that SO many are not aware of. It's sad.
