Stop the presses, DailyMile - THIS HAPPENED! Everyone take a minute to click this here linky and check out the time-stamp:
Go ahead, I'll wait. Seriously.
You back? You see that? 5:59AM, and that ain't no typo! Five-fifty-freakin-nine! That's right, this guy dragged his ass out of bed and went for an EARLY morning seven-miler. This week has been so crazy between it being a short week and every night being busy with either a fantasy draft or Rosh Hashana festivities, that was really starting to bug out about not being adequately prepared for Saturday's 20-miler. After two straight off-days (something that hasn't happened in a while), it was now or never time and I made it happen.
I can't say I expect it to become a habit, but I admit it wasn't nearly as awful as I feared. I was groggy and it was somewhere in between darkness and sunrise when I finally hit the pavement, but I felt like I had the secret weapon - Bruce, live in Jersey, 1978. I started off slow but really worked the pace and felt great by the end. Plus, I felt like I got a few hints as to how the Marathon might go down: Super early wake-up. Extra cool fall air. Emotions flowing as I thought about my friend while running past the house where he used to live and listening to Bruce talk about how everyone has to make it through the darkness on the edge of town.
So like I said, I don't expect to make a habit of those pre-6am timestamps, but there are much worse ways to wake up in the morning. And yes, I know that plenty of you do this every day and are thoroughly unimpressed, but I am NOT a morning person at all which makes this a big deal for me, so just indulge it.

I don't think I've ever run before 7 AM. Great job on your run. Enjoyed your commentary on your soundtrack, too.
