Good Luck:
You can always program the Garmin for pace alerts. It will happily annoy you, plus everyone around you, if you stray from plan. But I think it takes away some of the fun and spontaneity from race day. Don't worry. You'll be fine!

Cool! Just goes to show how much of a "bad run" we bring with us. A change in mood, and we find the flow again.
I love trying not to startle deer. You've got to wonder what they think of us, tho!

Interesting. I googled around for Frank Shorter, Announcement, Marathon and came up with a bunch of results for Savannah getting a RnR next yr. So I guessed they were touring all the new RnR cities. That's an interesting article. Seems the current local race is a non-profit and promotes health & wellness for the community. Hopefully it won't go away... although RnR is a juggernaut and has a huge marketing force behind it.

David, wanted to continue as 'friends' so sent a request to David R. Congrats on the fund raising, although it's not quite what you were aiming for, it's still great and you might get a last minute surge. And good luck on the race too.

Thanks, Jim! Any money raised is a success in my book. It's been a great experience thus far and Ive learned a great deal about the process of raising money. Perhaps with some more advanced planning I can raise even more next year.

I know how you feel. I tried to do a fund-raiser on a bike trip across the USA. Mostly frustrating because I couldn't get any support from the people I was raising the money for. Only raised about $2000, but my family was grateful (it was for a memorial scholarship). The hardest part is being happy with what you raised, and not bitter about what you could have raised. A hard lesson for me. Anyway, have a great race, and look forward to following you this winter.

Cammie - I think I misspoke. I did a 20 a few weeks ago, but this was the only run above twenty. I was surprised the Hal Higdon's program only had two 20 mile runs. That's why I bumped this one up to 22.

It's really unfortunate about the cramping problem. Do you think it was just the extra tough hills or did you not hydrate/fuel enough during the race? Regardless, yes you rightfully should be proud and without regrets. A sub 4:30 hr finish for a 1st marathon is amazing! Congrats man!

Congratulations on your finish!
It's impressive that you were able to keep pushing when you haven't had cramping before.
Hope your recovery is swift!
