I used my Empi to subside any pain I might feel. I was surprised when I had to turn it off because it was too distracting while trying to find a rhythm. I was even more surprised when I decided to take it off and try it on my good knee which felt like it was working a little harder than it was used to. All in all, I am glad I made it as far as I did. My only disappointment is that despite having run a little farther and feeling better, I ran SLOWER. While I was running I disengaged the pace button on my Garmin so I couldn't see my pace, thank God!
