  1. RUN
    alright 2.55 mi 00:26 10:02 pace

A nice slow morning run, trying to get back into the swing of things. Gorgeous day outside, perfect for motivating me to get out there.

  2. RUN
    alright 2.48 mi 00:27 10:55 pace

First run of 2011! Long break over winter, but now I’m feeling ready to get back out there. Run started off well – did the first mile in under 10 mins (9.44) – but then around the mile and a half m... read more

  3. walk
    good 4.8 mi 01:20 16:40 pace

Not been getting out to exercise much recently so I turned a chore into an opportunity for an awesome long walk. Nice to feel like I'm offsetting some of the Thanksgiving overindulgence.

  4. RUN
    alright Lakeside 3 mi 00:32 10:39 pace

Slow old jog around the lake with the other half this morning - well he kept me company 'til just after the first mile and then went off at his own pace (argh, so annoyingly fast). Just breaking my... read more

  6. RUN
good Short back neighbourhood route 2.68 mi 00:28 10:30 pace

Super gentle jog/walk around the neighbourhood behind the apartment just to get out there and enjoy the sunshine and changing leaves. The roads back there are tree-lined and very pretty but it's al... read more

  8. RUN
    alright 3.05 mi 00:31 10:12 pace

Did some intervals today - alternating a faster pace than usual with a few walks. I found going faster to be really tiring, not least on my ankles, which I'm guessing has something to do with my st... read more

  9. RUN
good (Almost) full lake loop 3.14 mi 00:31 09:49 pace

Did a nice and even-paced loop of the lake in the drizzly rain. My real struggle has been getting my breathing and pace right so I can just keep going and I feel like in the last couple of weeks I'... read more

You are doing so great! It's no big secret that one of my favorite motivators is racing -- maybe you can find a 5K race happening locally and put it on the calendar. There's the thrill of racing, of course, plus a free tee shirt (for the cost of registration)!

Thanks! Olly and I are running the 5k at Kent this weekend, and knowing I was training for that has kept me going a couple of times recently. It's my first race ever - eep! - and aside from a few nerves I'm really looking forward to it. Hoping for a time of 30 mins, and I think Olly will come in somewhere around 26.

Awesome day for running, so Olly and I headed out to the Lake. While he was up for a full 3 miler, I went for a shorter route and met him at the end. Worked out pretty well and it was nice to have ... read more

Nice! I am glad the weather is taking a turn toward fall. I've been just enjoying being outside -- and not having to get up at the crack of dawn to avoid the heat. I bet your lake runs are just lovely.

good Gentle loop 1.16 mi 00:10:30 09:03 pace

A small run today to test my ankle. Just ran a loop on my street: up to the main road, back down to the end of the street, then back home. After a couple of mins the ankle was holding up really wel... read more

    alright 3.1 mi 00:31 10:03 pace

It is smart to take it easy if you have any pain. If it keeps bothering you, this article helpfully explains the most common knee problems and how to fix them :

Usually a little rest, taking it easy on hills, and icing the knee will clear it up when mine starts hurting.

Thanks for the tips - that article is really helpful, too. The knee is feeling pretty good today so taking things gently earlier in the week was the way to go.
