THis was a great run....but I definitely had to push the last couple miles to stay at goal pace for the half. I just don't quite see how I'll be ready to push this pace for 8 more miles on race day!? LOL Beautiful day outside by the lake!!

Morey --- Speaking of tapering...I noticed the Hal Higdon Novice 2 Half plan doesn't seem to have much of a taper. It's got us running 12 miles the week previous to the race, and then just some shorter mileage during that week. It seems like other plans I've used in the past had a longer taper period....anyone have any thoughts on that?

It's a novice plan that's pretty 'safe'. It doesn't dig you into as deep a fatigue hole, so you don't need so long to get out of it. Notice, however- that the last speed work in that plan is 2-1/2 and 3 weeks out from race day, so the taper is there. More aggressive plans will have more miles, periodized growth and rest weeks, and a 2-3 week taper. But that's more for marathons. You'll be fine. rock it!

Most half plans only have a 1 week taper. You will rock it. Well done on your HMP miles today! They aren't supposed to be easy.
