    Lungs are better.

  2. RUN
alright Forest Run with Sticky Lungs 5 mi 00:45 09:00 pace

A bad cold has undone any good work I may have done. First run in over a week, with very crunchy lungs. Ouch.

  3. RUN
alright Desperately Unfit 13.4 mi 01:50 08:11 pace

The grim realisation that I'm not going to be fit enough to run an October marathon, hit me square in my face during this run (which was supposed to be 18 miles).

I just don't have any s... read more

Sounds okay...did you register? Sometimes I have a crappy run or a series of crappy runs...don't give up until you are sure you aren't in just a weird funk. Could you run it slowly as a training run?

Glad to see you posting more runs lately! just keep it up and you'll be back in shape soon enough. Smart choice to work up to some shorter stuff first. I look forward to continuing to follow your comeback.

Thanks. Yep, I'm registered but I'm not too worried about missing it. I started my "comeback" too late. And I'm not making *any* consistent progress. I just don't have the time to get enough long runs done at a decent clip. I could run the marathon as a training run but I'm pretty certain I'd find that harder than running it flat-out (a mind thing).

I'll live to fight again another day. I think I just prefer training in winter to summer. It's been a persistent theme with me for the last few years.

  4. RUN
good Recovery Run Back Home 5 mi 00:40 08:00 pace

Felt ok today - not ready to run fast or long, but ok. Kept the lid on it - long tomorrow.

  5. RUN
alright Hill Repeats in Holyrood Park 9 mi 01:19 08:48 pace

Not been feeling great the last couple of days (stress, I think) but I managed to get out to run my repeats. Helped along by my friend Craig coming too (and kicking my arse).

    6 x 3 minute repeats,... read more

I'm ok, thanks DK. Just about to start a new job as a freelancer, so I've got a lot to think about. Sooner or later, my running will come good too.

Stretched my legs and lungs this evening. I'm not sure what my record for this hilly trail loop is (1 mile flat, 2 miles up, 2 miles down) but I was close to it. And definitely with these shoe... read more

    Another kettlebell session.

    Sets of 15x, 12x, 10x, 8x:

  9. RUN
alright Slow Start to the Week 5.75 mi 00:50 08:44 pace

Meh. For the foreseeable future, I'll be sticking with easy-easy-hard, where easy means ridiculously easy and hard means quite hard.

  10. RUN
good Long Hilly Trail Run in the F... 15.1 mi 02:15 08:56 pace

It's long past overdue for me to run long distances again. To break myself in gently, I ran 2 laps of the forest (up, down, up, down) and kept the pace nice and easy.

  11. FIT
    alright Kettlebell Routine 00:15:00

I should have been doing this regularly but my back was troubling me and then I got lazy.

    Sets of 15, 12 and 10 x

    alright Easy 5 5 mi 00:41 08:09 pace

Blowing a bit this morning. Successive hard days are a long way in the future right now. So, easy osy and then long tomorrow.

  13. RUN
    good Hill Repeats 6 x 3 minutes 9.1 mi 01:19 08:42 pace

Finally, I had the energy to run hill repeats and do them some sort of justice. So, 6 x 3 minutes (on a stony track, which works my ankles). I actually managed to go further on each successive repe... read more

A *slightly* longer run today and a *slightly* higher pace. Didn't feel particularly comfortable but it got done. Wet and humid, delightful.

  16. RUN
good Round the Forest 6.3 mi 00:51 08:08 pace

I'm travelling tomorrow and lacking a bit of energy today, so I didn't exert myself too much. I'll be attempting hill repeats and a longer run later in the week. Time to step it up.

Same run as yesterday, in the rain this time. Despite being out 'til all hours last night, I actually felt better today.

  18. RUN
    alright Colyumbridge 5.2 mi 00:40 07:41 pace

I'm still recovering from a bit of a lingering virus, but my legs felt ok - just my lungs which didn't seem too happy.
