Feels like winter's finally here in Vancouver -- a little late, but hey... it just means choosing the running pants instead of the running shorts! One bonus of the weather change is that all the pollen that was making me sneezy + wheezy seems to be g... read more

Howling bone-chilling wind this morning made for a very cold and annoying run, but only one way. The way back I had the wind at my back, which is muuuuuuch better. I would have rated this run a "great" except I've done something gnarly to m... read more

it's always nice to have the wind pushing you forward instead of battering you down when you're on the return portion of a run. hope your back feels better!

Not much to say here -- pretty good run. I guess in a week and a bit we have to change our clocks forwards, which means for a little while it'll feel like I'm getting up at 4am instead of 5. Oh man. Bleah.

aaaaaaggghhhh I totally forgot. grrrrr I am sleeping like sh*t as it is. ;(

Very low-energy level again, dammit. No big deal, it happens. Particularly when seasonal allergies are kicking my ass like they are now. Snort snort wheeze!
-
yep, it's definitely allergy season again. i feel your pain!

There had to be a down side to those cherry and magnolia tree blossoms, didn't there? :/

well, with the cherry blossoms comes the bad stuff . . . i just noticed a huge thicket of broom in my street's back alley last night. i swear it sprang up overnight.

Add to the surrealness -- there's an owl in the tree outside my work this morning!

Kinda rough due to lack of sleep (the honking and hollering outside lasted until 3am or thereabouts) but made it. I think I'm going to keep this running route even after the roads in town are back open. It's quieter and generally more picturesque, wh... read more

Ohh it was so loud last night ... grumpy today!
I can't imagine how bad it must have been downtown, I stayed in Kits last night and it was bad enough.
I have never seen anything like this before!

It's almost over boy! Good for you for sticking it out!

Yup, soon the roads will be re-opened... and pretty soon the sun will start to rise during my early-morning runs and THAT makes a huuuuuge difference.
Huuuuuuge. :)

Unremarkable run, but oh man -- the smell of the cherry blossoms (in February!) was magic. I love that smell. Plus one of the stores I run by seemed to be baking chocolate chip cookies this morning. Mmmmmm. This morning's run was all about smells i... read more

Blah, serious lack of energy these mornings now. Maybe time to mix up my route again? All I do in my head is tally up the number of BMWs I see vs. the number of Audis. (Result: people in Vancouver have way too much money.)

a new route is a good idea. definitely helps with boredom and lack of motivation to shake things up every now and then.

Yeah for sure. Maybe I should start using my Nike+ thing more actively and then just head out without any planned route. Just leave it more random. Although so many of the routes from my place are uphill, I'm pretty sure there would be some automatic tendencies. ;)

Was feeling frustrated and angry at myself so I pushed myself a fair bit harder this morning. Shaved a few minutes off of my overall time and really felt it.
-
way to give 'er! hope the run helped you work out the frustration.

It did help, definitely. A more-or-less constructive way to work it out, I guess!

A little tougher to drag my sorry ass out of bed this morning, but the run went alright, all told. Ran into an area where a skunk was lurking (didn't actually see it, just smelled it). The stink was so bad that I almost started gagging. Brutal!

That run seemed remarkably easy this time, minus the slight twinges of knee pain. I'll take it though! I'm going to bypass the riding to work today -- with the olympic rush-hour and crazy amounts of kids running around willy-nilly it's just too dange... read more

probably a good idea to pass up the ride. i went running down hastings tonight, and there were tons of people around the PNE. i had to cut over to pender just to avoid the crowds, because i kept bumping into people.
