great Sydney Marathon 42.2 km 03:29 07:57 pace

Holy moly! I did it! I just finished my first marathon :D First goal: To finish! Second: To finish in under 4 hours. Then I couldn't help but thinking; -but IF I have the perfect day, I might even... And this was that perfect day: Perfect weather, felt great, opened at just the right pace and although my right hamstring started "tickling" already at 8 km and kept on for the rest of the race, I was able to finish without cramping. But under 3:30?! Only in my wildest dreams!... Especially the 1:39:17 on the second half (at a pace of 4:42) was - if I may say it myself - rather impressive! And 9:05 on the last 2.2 km was just an out of body experience... Now I'm feeling like I imagine an 80 year old man would after falling off his bike, but who cares?     A huge congrats mate. That is absolutely fantastic. You should be proud of yourself and don't take a backward step about it. You are part of the 0.1% of the population that has done a marathon. You are elite. AND wow what a time. To be honest, with your training times, I'm not surprised with your time. but It is just fantastic mate. Wish I had been there to see you fly by me trying to break 4 hours.

    Thanks a bunch @Andrew & @Greg for your extremely friendly comments. You really succeeded in making me feel good about myself :)

    And in regards to the surprise part: Although I've been really pleased with my training progress this year I was a bit excited to see if my lack of really long training runs would punish me in the last stages of the run. But apparently not... :)
