1st track day for me since began marathon training (first run on a track in the past 23 yrs for that matter). Did the Yassos 10 x 800m and pushed the effort to 90%. Figured this will be one of the most difficult training sessons I have left when it comes to pure speed workouts. Feet are bit more sore after this as I ran to the local HS track and back which covers 3 miles each way. I felt really good today and believed the workout to be one of the best indicators of where I’m at in my training. I can definitely tell a difference in terms of speed doing these on a track versus on a country road where I have to leap a barrier chain every 800 as the road is chained off from a subdivision…Very surreal being on a track again—after a few of these 800s it brought back some very fond old memories from doing the 2mile back in HS (I wasn’t very good)—good times.
My 800 splits were: 2:48, 2:50,2:51,2:51,2:51,2:49,2:45,2:48,2:46,2:43

Apparently it's Yasso week on DM! Those are good splits... What was your recovery?

I'm a little disappointed in those 2:51s, Paul. C'mon! ;-) ... Super splits! Next 26.2 = sub-2:50.

@Chaz, I did these with 2:30 recovery jog in between--which is what it took to get around the track once after each...
Thanks all...no doubt you can guess I was relieved to have passed this 'test' for Boston...glad the legs held together enough to really crank on the last few...

Oh man, you were flying. Yesterday, I really dogged it on the recovery jogs, plus I only ran 6; I was running more or less 5K race pace --- what is a 90% effort for you... Is that about 5K? That's a great workout. Congrats!!!
