My goal was to beat my best time for the course, 24:19. I really wasn't feeling it at first, but after I finished the first mile in 7:37, including the big hill, I thought it might be possible to beat my course best. I held on to that pace for the second, flat mile, then some of the "usuals" started passing me. I kept them in my sights. Coming up PoH hill the second time I was really tired but fueled by all the people I was passing, including some of those that streaked by me in mile two. I hung in there and made up some ground on the woman that seems to always run near me in these races. I caught my breath coming down the big hill and prepared for the uphill finish. I sprinted up the hill, catching her and 4 or 5 others, beating my best time on this race. I'm very happy with this run. Once again, I failed to stop my watch at the finish. My official time was 23:41. The best thing about the race was my family surprising me at the finish line! Saw fellow DMers Mr Ralph and Julie P.

Congratulations, Scott! Happy Easter!

Congrats on the race and that was a great pace. I guess there had to be some way to light that fire under you to get going. Great finish.

It's always good to hang out with you after the race. We have goals for next year. We also have goals for the rest of this year. They shouldn't involve killing anyone ;)

It was great hanging out with you Mr. Ralph! Goals, yes. Let's first take the hard road and work our butts off to see how far that gets us. Besides, some of the other ways mentioned to finish top in our age group may be a little drastic. But it's easy for you to say since you were only 20 seconds from 3rd in your AG; I was 2 minutes and 38 seconds from 3rd in my AG and I finished 9th of 21. We have a lot of work to do!
