You know I bought some new shoes and the first couple of time I was running in them I noticed I was really tensing my shins. I had to really adjust my stride and imagine my feet flopping forward like clown shoes to find the groove. I have no idea if this will help but it was just an observation I had as a newbie runner. Your dedication is fantastic though and I hope you can keep injury free and healthy.

I recently got the Garmin Forerunner 305. I like it, but I'm still figuring it out! I also used runmenter on my Iphone for a long time and that worked well too.

Oo thanks Kristin! I know quite a few people who use aps on their iphone, but sadly I only have the ipod touch, so no gps. I'm also moving to Europe in less than a year and like the idea of having a gps system for running in new areas. I'll def have to look up the forerunner. SO many Amazon reviews to read through haha.

I'm actually preferring the combo of my Garmin + a nano. But, I still haven't loaded the Garmin software so I'm not really utilizing all of it's capabilities. That said, you can download a lot of apps for under $10 if you already have an Iphone!
