I was in danger of running out of daylight and had no reflective gear or headlamp with me so I decided to head into the woods.
The run wasn't as easy as the low heart rate would indicate, because the terrain was pretty treacherous. Even though it hasn't snowed in about a month, there were long sections where the entire trail was just a slab of thick, slippery ice. This is why I don't get snow: a couple hours of pretty just isn't worth the trade-off when you're still dealing with such a nuisance weeks afterwards.
While I'm on the subject of things I find annoying: the Montague Plains are a huge wooded area that would be beautiful *except* that it's become the clandestine garbage dump for the town. While I was running, a pickup truck started up and pulled out, full of old tires. The guy had a sheepish grin on his face like he'd been busted, but that probably didn't stop him, because a couple miles later there was a pile of tires that had been left by the side of the trail.

No, I was running the other way, plus he had his tailgate down so I couldn't see it.
