  1. RUN
Outran the dogs 6.94 mi 01:06 09:26 pace

Trail run behind the house at lunch. Put some effort into the first mile climb and both outran the dogs (who went back home) and beat my previous record by over a minute. Felt pretty good but I sti... read more

  2. RUN
    Jail Break 5K 3.06 mi 00:20 06:29 pace

10th sub-20 road 5K in a row, all since turning 50. Barely edged out old pals Sri B. and Tom D.

You more than edged me out. You pulled solidly away in the last mile.

No way do I belong in the same sentence as Rich, Sri. I knew I was either going to be just under our just over 20, so it was with a little bit of pain to get under. Thanks to you and James for pulling me along.

  3. RUN
    Amherst Fall Foliage X-Countr... 3.11 mi 00:23 07:26 pace

Hilly and ankle twisty, not-for-guys-with-tendonitis kind of course. Part of the race series so I got through it, painfully.

  4. RUN
No rain, just humidity and sweat 6 mi 00:55 09:11 pace

Was hoping to run in the rain, but the only falling drops were sweat pouring off my body. Bushwhack to the trail, out and back, bushwhack to the road.

  5. RUN
Summertime and the runnin' is... 5.2 mi 00:44 08:22 pace

I keep seeing mid-October on the calendar but it was 70°F and very humid so it's obviously still August.

  6. RUN
    Upper & Lower loop 8.01 mi 01:03 07:49 pace

3rd day in a row, and 8 rolling miles at moderate effort felt pretty doable. Good to run with the guys and grab coffee after.

Running with friends is the best. Maybe we can try that next April?

You will be way ahead of me! I do have one friend whose BQ is mere seconds away from mine and we already were in the same corral at NY last year.

The legs, both, are pretty good. Not 100% and this run was mostly downhill, but I think I'm on the mend! We were at the Festival both days, dropped the daughter off yesterday and picked her up today. I think we dropped $100 at Elmer's.

    Chase'n A Mason 5K 3.1 mi 00:20 06:21 pace

Sub-20 5K streak survives on a friendly home town course. Felt pretty good actually. Cold and rainy, which probably helped though I'm shivering now. Hats off to David C. who ran a smokin'... read more

Pretty good. We'll see tomorrow. It seems to be good run, bad run, repeat. Hopefully at some point the good runs will be more and the bad ones fewer. It helped that this course is pancake-flat.

Beautiful day but sore adductors today. Felt pretty lousy for the whole run. :-(

  10. RUN
Cheshire Rail Trail 5 mi 00:40 08:01 pace

The bike paths in Massachusetts are all flat and paved. The ones in New Hampshire seem to all be dirt and uphill. Nice little run while waiting for my wife's car that I brought to Keene Toyota... read more

injured Conway Festival of the Hills 10K 6.09 mi 00:49 08:06 pace

Still, a very wise move to take it easy Patrick. After all the REAL trick is to break the Over 100 Marathon record!! I've targeted the Over 100 1 hour TT on the bike myself :)

Based on what I have been hearing about the course, you would have kicked my ass and that's no small feat ;-). Well done Patrick.
Update: Looking at the results, you and #5 finished within a few seconds at Bridge of Flowers. You definitely would have been right about there again if not for the pain/injury.

Yeah, Bob had a bad day there. I don't think I run faster than 45 minutes or so on a course like that even on my best day, but clearly that was not my best day and I backed way off after the turnaround.

This years course had nearly five times the feet of gain (900+) compared to last year (200ish). It was punishing and demoralizing. Your pace is spectacular on that course.

  12. RUN
SMAC Track Workout 5.56 mi 00:43 07:45 pace

Tried to get some faster leg turnover without extending too much. Kept it mostly at tempo effort with 400s in 1:37 or so and 800s in about 3:20.

  13. RUN
Rainy doggy trail run 6 mi 00:59 09:48 pace

Feeling stronger every day on the uneven surfaces. Took a spill, which would have been agonizing for the adductors a couple weeks ago. I have a skinned knee but that's it. :-)

  14. RUN
    Double digits! 10.15 mi 01:20 07:52 pace

First double digit run in months that did not suck. Kept it comfortable but picked the pace up for mile 7. Had originally planned 2-3 uptempo miles but one was enough.
