goodHerndon Park loops 3 mi 00:46 15:20 pace

Laps around the park in the cold. I ran in intervals, and ran to get stray soccer balls every time I passed the soccer fields. I was planning to walk for the last 5 minutes but "Hey You" by Outkast started playing on my iPhone so I got all ... read more

    goodYoga video workout 00:35

Felt really really good. I think it went well because of the stretching I've been doing on my legs (for my sciatica). My fingers pass my toes when I bend to touch them... about two inches further than just a week or so ago. Average HR was 111 and ma... read more

I did laps around my house and back yard... mostly walking. Average heartrate was 145... max HR: 188 (because i sprinted one lap). Amazing how quickly my HR gets up to its max! Been diligently stretching the nerves in my leg for the past week and I ... read more

    goodChavis Park, Raleigh - Loops ... 3 mi 00:45 15:00 pace

So, I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas and decided to be a bit smarter about my "running". I ran last Friday with the intention of keeping within 50-60% of my max HR, and quickly realized that meant that I can't really run for more tha... read more

I'm with you Lu...I need to do something that feels good but I would like to push myself harder. I am committed to consistency and trying to stay focused on that. Hopefully, I will then work up a bit. Good luck. Be proud of yourself for getting out in the cold and moving!

Consistency is key. Now I understand that taking it easy in the beginning will help me to consistently do exercise... step by step. It's really hard not to run, but I'm already feeling the benefits so it's really motivating me to keep it up.

goodFull North Chapel Hill Trail ... 4.2 mi 01:04 15:14 pace

I wanted to run in the snow, but it stopped snowing just as I went out to run. I find it easier to run in the cold. I had some issues with my Runkeeper app and the GPS which distracted me halfway into the run. I felt I ran pretty fast in the last mi... read more

I had to go to another pool because the one I usually go to was all booked up and busy with a swim meet. I usually swim 25yd laps, but the pool I went to today has 25m laps, which is over 2 yards longer... so if you do the math, 48 laps in a 25m pool ... read more

My mom is coming to tomorrow for ten days. I'm excited! She's an osteopath so she'll probably treat my sciatica and massage my now sore muscles. Now I'm happy they're sore... They get treated!

good42 Laps at the pool 1050 yd 00:30

I used to usually do 64 laps when I'd go to the pool, but I really feel like I'm starting from the beginning, so I decided not to push it. It wasn't hard... used the swimming gloves for some breaststroke laps and that really worked out my arms nicely.... read more

I'm sooooo sore right now. I might have to do yoga tomorrow instead of running.

hey Lu-congrats on getting back on the horse. Be careful to ease back in and if you're going to run at night, make sure to take reflectors or a light-up vest. Nun-chucks are good, but pepper spray and mace are easier to wield on the run. :-) sucks to have to think about precautions like that but better to b safe.

:) I had bought a head flashlight but hadn't bought batteries, but I bought them after my run.Gonna use that if I run late... but I'm going to try not to run late.
I'm going swimming today. That always helps and I'm going to be really really careful about easing in. I did lots of stretching last night, mainly of my piriformis (sp?).
I'm taking the nunchucks to workout my arms while walking. It's great exercise for your arms.My nunchucks are rubber ones so it won't matter if I hit myself in my face
