So use the Smith machine and set the safety guides (or whatever they're called) so that if you drop it, then it won't fall on you.

I find a good workout can also have direct correlation with what you ate prior too. I workout first thing in the morning before eating, and have to really force the energy to do the workout. I probably would have a much better workout if I ate first. Glad you felt great today, and I am sure you are getting stronger. You have to be.

That's kind of what happened to me Phil. I did lots of long slow mileage with no stress about speed or hitting your numbers. Just get out there and enjoy moving and looking at your surroundings, getting lost in your thoughts, or whatever. It does get boring sometimes when you do it by yourself, but it has its advantages too. Plus, the races have such a larger payoff in satisfaction. Maybe there is an ultra in your future?

You never know what your future holds. In 2005 a five mile long run would be my limit. I rarely ever did it. It is incredible to look back at the sequence of events that led me from there to a 100 miler. Too many people do limit themselves by their own thoughts...and they miss out.

I still believe in the minimalist for strengthening the feet, but having noticed that more and more ultra runners are wearing Hokas, I felt I should give them a try. I was amazed how many runners were wearing them at Nanny Goat.
