  1. SHUT DOWN
My last (3) consecutive runs since Wednesday 2/24 have given off crazy HR max's of 236, 211 & 224. Even sitting down, HR is jumping around in the 90-130 range. Initially I assumed gadget error, but I've switched gadgets, changed batteries... read more

  3. tiredNYRR Al Gordon ...flakeout 4 mi / 00:41 10:08 pace

Ran 1 mile in 8:33, then pretty much shut down and had to WALK!!. A few sporadic bouts of running got me to the finish. First time this has ever happened - not sure why. I had a crazy hi HR reading on my last run which I assumed was Garmin error (just... read more

hmmm, having that brutal hill in the beginning is pretty intense, particularly when you're not sure what else maybe coming up. Did you have any pain? Or was it just fatigue? That is a pretty crazy HR you got there too wow! Definitely keep an eye on that... maybe your body wants you to take it more easy for awhile?

Hope everything's alright with the old ticker. Either way, job nice finishing the race. Next time I hope to make it to post-run brunches, but today's schedule made it impossible. Blargh.

Garmin puzzle: 9:24pace/ 236bpm/ 107 calories - which of these does not fit, lol? This is a pic of a 405cx which supposedly calculates calorie count from HR rather than pace (305 and 405 use pace). However given the whacky HR reading, this calorie coun... read more

You sure the weight you entered in there is right? Maybe it's thinking your like 17 pounds instead of 170! lol (I have no idea how much you weigh so I am using random numbers :P)

@Samantha - 236bpm suggests I forget to select the 'human' setting.

  5. tiredNite loop 4.7 mi / 00:42 09:00 pace

Ran 4.7 miles in 42:22 (9:00 pace) 8:25/ 8:49/ 9:23/ 9:24/ 8:54. Opted for night run in dry relatively warm 41F conditions rather than possibly snowy morning. A wrong turn somewhere shortened the planned 5 miler. Running at night on poorly lit streets ... read more

  6. good5 mile HR 5 mi / 00:43 08:39 pace

Ran 5 miles at 150 HR. Required some slower splits in middle to keep in range = majorly unfit. 43:15 time (8:39 pace) 8:33/ 8:30/ 8:52/ 8:48/ 8:32. 38F slight rain.

  7. great7 miler 7 mi / 00:57 08:06 pace

Ran 7 miles in 56:34 (8:06 pace) 7:56/ 8:17/ 8:11/ 8.23/ 8:11/ 8:20/ 7:58. My last 7 miler was the day I screwed up my hip in Oct - today's run was much sloppier but still a little mental victory. 36F beautiful sunshine, wore shorts and 1 layer.

Ran 4 miles in 32:27 (8:06 pace) 8:33/ 8:15/ 8:12/ 7:27. Glorious sunny morning. Super crowded throughout, especially at start - event raised in excess of 400k for Haiti relief. A nice mornings effort from all involved.
