A terrible 20 miler - haven't done such a bad one in a long time.. Nothing to do with my fitness just the conditions here on otherwise lovely Naxos.. Woke up at 530 to start and beat the heat but it was still dark. Ran the first 2 miles on a treadmill and then headed out for 18. I ran about 3 miles directly along the beach (which sounds much more idyllic than it is - between the camber and the sand and wet shoes I managed about 12:30 minute miles on those miles) and the rest on some pretty ropy sandy paths. The wind is really strong and, of course, was in my face for the 9 miles home. All in all a really tough course - hot, windy, hilly, and sandy. Happy to have got it in, but that's about it...


i think you've done very well all things considered. often, it's these type of difficult, slow runs that really benefit us in the long run... i susepct you'll feel much better about this workout in a day or two... have a good weekend petra

I think you should be proud. You ran a 12 miler and then a 20 miler back to back and one of them in Greece too! I can imaging the heat even at that time in the morning I would have thought the wind in your face was a bit of a Godsend.
