After yesterdays "learning experience" I took the message and slept in.
Just a very short session today, so what to do?
Before the Birthday Breakfast and pressies?
A nice easy recovery :)))))))
Unfortunately, by the time I was out there I had spotted 3 local PROPER bikers. They were off for the local 70 mile ride so I thought I'd "join" them for a short while. After spotting them I continued up the road for a further 400m thinking that would give me something to work on. They were still 400m ahead after 2 miles so I put it into the top cog and went for it. I caught and passed them after just a mile and then looked down at my watch. I was almost at the turn around in less than 10 mins! I had to stop for a dog walking couple and then I started to feel the wind :) Just a 15-20mph westerly - straight in my face! Then I thought about what I had been just 6 years ago. Dying of Diabetes, Heart problems and Obesity! Now I was going to challenge myself again. I had 14 mins into this wind to break 25 mins for the route. I've done it before - but only just. The first thought was - what is going to make today special? What gift shall I give myself today?
Head down and I was listening to Chrissie W shouting at me "Your limits may not be were you think they are!" So I just did what I was told and PUSHED!!
Things got a bit tough when the wind crossed my path around a hilly corner on the route but head down and think what would the DM Crew do? All the runners and riders who's stories of training are so inspiring? From the bikers who rack up massive mile to the runners who are in the first phase of try to get rid of some weight (we're all still there really :)
