One week ill -- no running or cycling. And I am still feeling like crud. I'm not sure the upcoming marathon (2 weeks away) is really going to happen. Bummed out.

Great article from Jeff Galloway:

nice article.. Phil, do you follow the Galloway technique?

I don't really "follow" his technique, in that I don't run-walk. I typically run continuously. But I'm always looking for ideas to help motivate me and keep me running at a better pace. So his thoughts on the "magic mile" and predictions are interesting to me.

I resuscitated my Garmin HR monitor and it started working again. I removed the battery and reseated it 3 or 4 times and finally it started connecting to the 405 again.

Had a similar problem and got this reply from garmin:
In the meantime, please try this one thing to make sure the sensor you
currently have is non-functional. Sometimes when placing a new battery
in the device, the higher voltage can cause the sensor to temporarily
seize up. Please remove the battery and place it in upside down for
about a minute. Then remove the battery and let it set for a few
minutes. Insert the battery regularly to the sensor and then attempt to
pair the sensor and Edge together:1.

That would simply cause it to short out (drain any internal capacitors too). In fact I did that as well, by accident, so it's probably what actually fixed my problem. All through serendipity.
