Thinking of being a runner pretty much exclusively until November and focusing on the Philly Marathon. Thoughts?

    No! Don't do it. Trust me. I was a runner for 4 years before getting into triathlon and it tore my body up. I've never been this healthy in my life since adding swimming and biking and laying off the constant pounding of the pavement. Keep up the cross training.

    Im into it. Every year, once triathlon season is over, I slowly increase my running so that I can prepare for a marathon. It keeps me excited to start triathlon training again early January. As long as you listen to your body and don't push yourself too hard, only good things can come.

    Hmmm.... I'd say perhaps put more focus on running but I wouldn't stop the others because they are excellent cross training and can be enhance your running further, as well as to help avoid some overuse injuries.

    I agree with Pam. I have never been so injury free with cycling and swimming added to the mix

    That's what I'm doing. After my marathon, I'm going back to swim and bike. It's been a nice break. I was biking and running early in my training plan but this last month my milage went way up so I can't do anything but run till its over.
