I have been jonesing for a run longer than 3 miles for the past month now. Since I redid something to my hammy four weeks ago, I've been limited to 5k distances, but with exactly four weeks left till the Vegas RnR 1/2, its time to step it up.

First things first. My car had to go to JiffyLube in a bad way, so I timed everything around when JL opened. I was at their door at 8 am, out by 8:30 and on my way to the trail.

I started with my usual - some dynamic stretches, then a 1/2 mile warm-up walk, before starting the run. I knew the first two miles are the death of me so I just took it easy and surprisingly it was fine. Of course it helped that "Empire State of Mind" was the first song on my playlist (my current song obsession).

After the first mile I hit my stride and just kept going. I'm not going to lie...I felt the hamstring. If it felt super terrible I would have stopped but it didn't. Just same nagging feeling.

Normally I don't bring my fuel belt for runs 6 miles or less, but after the charley horse on Wednesday night (which I still kinda feel), I didn't want to dehydrate so I brought it with me, which was a good thing cause it was hot and I needed it. Funny, 57 degrees is hot for me. :)

It was a great run and I'm ecstatic with the time. I haven't had this kind of time since April (occurence of first injury). But motivation-wise, it wasn't the best run. I decided I'm sick of a lot of songs on my playlist so I must revise.

Mile 1: 10:33
Mile 2: 9:55
Mile 3: 9:51
Mile 4: 9:26
Mile 5: 9:28
Mile 6: 9:16

I'm going to write a blog post tonight to tomorrow on my post-run experience (ie my very first ice bath).
