Steady Run Out and Back 8 km 00:48 09:38 pace

Today marks 2,000 km of running in just short of two years since I began. This wasn't really a goal I set out to achieve, but I have to say if I thought about whether this was possible when I started, I never would have believed it.

One of the best things I did was keep track of every run on dailymile.com. This free online service really helped keep me on track and motivated to do better. What a great community of supportive and like minded people. People who I don't know most of them, but feel like I do. People who have had the same challenges I've had and people who are role models for others.

If you are considering starting to run, there is no better time than now. Winter (minus the slushy, wet days) is the best time to run.....seriously!

All you have to do is get a decent pair of shoes and layer properly and just get out there. Go slow when you start and join dailymile.com. You'll find lots of support and help there. If you are reading this from Facebook and you live near a Running Room, I would also go there and check it out. They have clinics for every level of ability and have first class instruction.

Or send me a message. I would be happy to pay forward what I have learned :)

Happy Superbowl Sunday :)

Way to go Mark! What a great accomplishment! I admire your perseverance. Wish I had tracked my miles from the start...it will be a while before the odometer rolls over for me!
