I still forgot to charge my Garmin so I headed out on this long run with just my Timex while breaking in pair number 13 of Brooks Launch. I mapped out a ~15.5 mile route and headed out with no expectations. All I knew is that I only had 2 hours to run. From the beginning I felt fresh. (even though I put in a hard effort yesterday) But I knew that it was still early in the run and perhaps it would catch up with me later. It never did. I hit the lap button at a few landmarks during the run so I could see my paces and my effort.
- I hit 8.65 miles just under the hour mark - 59:40 (6:53 pace)
- The next 4.3 miles in 28:38 (6:39 pace)
- The remaining 3.95 miles in 24:29 (6:11 pace)
Just before heading into the final few miles, I took off my shirt which always seems to give me a mental boost feeling the cool air on my skin. I was left only wearing tights and arm warmers. I took an extra loop that I knew would add on about a mile but I still had no idea where I was mileage wise. All I know is that I felt fantastic so i went with it.
This is one of the strongest, most relaxed feeling long runs I have had in some time.

Great job, Matthew! I love how Virginia stays warm sometimes even in fall/winter.
