Finished 3rd overall with a 18:40 (I think that's what the main clock said as I forgot to stop my watch) Luckily for me, a few of the faster guys did not show up today.
Splits:
6:01, 6:13, 5:58
The hilliest 5k course I have ever run accompanied with a cool, misting rain. I was in 6th place until I passed a group of 3 HS boys at the 2.5 mile mark. I was able to pull away at the next hill but had to sprint for all my life with one of them to hold on to third. My Garmin showed a speed incline with a max of 15.1 mph starting at the 3 mile mark to the finish.
Perhaps my breakfast of Fiber One cereal (with milk) and a glass of orange juice about an hour before was not the best idea. About 15 minutes after the race as I was waiting for the awards to start, I lost everything that was in my stomach in 4 reversals. Not too fun.
Overall, I say not bad being 6 days after a marathon

The misting was kind of nice out there today. Again, great job!

You are one strong dude, Matt. Hate when I forget to turn off the Garmin at the end of a race. And the Fiber One & OJ, chalk it up to lesson learned. Congratulations on an outstanding run!
