I didn't feel like dealing with the heat, and I was near the gym after a meeting so I went there to run. I'm a wimp, I know ... but at least I ran, right?

Nice run, Wanda! How hot is it there right now?

A run is a run. TM runs are harder anyway. Extra points :-)

Oh man, you completed that challenge before me! I'm at 57 miles :P

It was 89 around 1pm. The humidity takes it into the 90's. It's miserable. I'm not sure when I'm gonna take the Cookie to run :(

@Kelly, I run on the track. I'd fly off the back of a treadmill!

89! Yikes. I used to love the warmth.. but now I don't like running in anything over 70. I prefer 55-60 though.

@Prof, I love to run when it's 40's. Maybe even 30's. The older I get, the less I can tolerate the heat and humidity in the south.

Great run Wanda! You're not a wimp at all. :P

In those temps.. please don't tell me you're in no/short sleeves!

You, of all people, can't describe herself as a wimp!! Great run!

@Prof, maybe if it was in the 40's but prob not in the 30's.

*shudder* I'd be in a short and long sleeve shirt in the 40's.. maybe a jacket too if low 40's.

not a wimp just an improvisor! Great job getting the run in and NOT getting heatstroke!

@Prof, we had our coldest weather when I ran my half - I think it was 21? I wore long sleeves and short sleeves, a scarf, a headband with my ballcap, and gloves. I wore a trash bag while waiting for the race to start, and ditched that at starting time. Starting in mile 2, I was warm and lost the headband, gloves, and scarf.

Wow.. crazy!! Smart idea with the trash bag though!

Wimp! Just kidding! Way to get the miles in! TM or outside is not important!

@Sang, lol. I run on the track - I can't run on the TM 'cause I would fly off the back of it!
@Prof, it hadn't been that cold and the week of the race, the projected temps were getting colder and colder. I hadn't trained in weather that cold, so I wasn't sure how it would go.

The cold obviously agrees with you - didn't you say you managed 2:06 for your (first) half?

Great track run Wanda, and a good steady pace

If I didn't have a goal of 2:15 already for my first, I'd set it at 2:06.06 :)
11 months ago • Like • 1 person
You have plenty of time to change your goal! ;-) I didn't give myself a time goal for my first ... my only goal was to finish and to run the whole 13.1. Finishing with a 2:06 was just icing on the cake!
11 months ago • Like • 1 person
What no goal? Just doesnt't sound right coming from you:)
11 months ago • Like • 2 people
@Wanda - I don't want to change it. I want to keep it at 2:15... that way I can still feel ok if something happens and I don't beat it :)
11 months ago • Like • 1 person
I think that's called smart :)
11 months ago • Like • 1 person
@Sang, for tackling something that big for the first time, a time goal was too overwhelming. The goal of running the whole thing was enough for me to shoot for. Now I'll shoot for beating my time :)

Great run! Running on the indoor track feels harder than running on a treadmill for me. I don't know why.
