Mother Nature is a biatch 20.26 mi 01:04 19.0mph pace

Started ride at 4:45 under dark and what I thought was clear skies. Plan was to ride about 50 miles. Got about 15 miles in and I saw a flash in the sky and heard a BIG rumble. Pulled out my phone and saw a HUGE T-storm was headed my way. Ruh-roh. Quickly turned around and made my way as fast as I could to a gas station where I did my best Bob Dylan impression and took shelter from the storm. Tweeted my dilemma and soon a friend read it and offered to come pick me up. Rather than risk riding in the rain in the dark with morning rush hour traffic starting to fill the roads, I took him up on the offer and headed home. Live to ride another day. Bummed...

"Live to ride another day." That's the key. Nice job getting up at 4:45 anyway.

Being smart is always better than being tough Mike. Glad you are safe and sound - those 30 miles will be there for you another day :)

I agree with Joe. Good call, although I'm sure it was disappointing. It wasn't supposed to rain this early!
