Wanted to get 5 miles in at exactly 75% HR Max (139 BPM) and feel where my pace ended up. I figured it would be around 9:15 and surprised to be much faster. For a few periods I was running 8:40 pace or so and I only went up a beat or two. Maybe this cardio workout stuff works after all :)

Wasn't my workout, but was following a few calculators based on the Daniels Running Formula, which always puts the optimum target for easy and long runs at 70% of VO2max or 75% max HR. What I was curious about is that there are plenty of calculators that give what PACE your supposed to run your easy runs at based on current race results AND established standards (like Daniels) on what HR to to run them at. Knowing both figures I wanted to see how close they came to each other or meshed.
