    good Greenbelt 4.45 mi 00:40 08:59 pace

Another nice easy run, speeding up with each new mile. Looking forward to getting back to a more normal routine next week with longer miles. But I do have to say my body is responding well to the... read more

Easy run to hospital 6.5 mi 01:00 09:13 pace

Ran each mile faster than the last, and still kept it easy to continue recovering. Great timing --got done before it started raining. Gotta love running on pleasant mornings with no wind. :-)

  4. RUN
    good Sandcreek track 3.5 mi

Two 1-mile repeats at 7:12-7:15 pace. That last mile was only 0.75 miles, though. I think I was quickly discouraged by Tim, Jamie, and Dave running at my 400-meter pace rather than 1600-meter pac... read more

You are definitely the endurance monster from mcmillans calculator! That was my 400 pace a couple of months ago.... So take heart and keep hitting the track. :)

Do they have a athlete testing center down at the U maybe we can get a group discount and get our LT and VO2max baselines. :) the track is a great place to explore those physical and mental barriers to athletic performance. I felt like I broke through a mental one today. I have felt that amount of discomfort and backed off or packed it in. Today I pushed through.

Maybe. I'll look into it. There was something about body composition analysis listed in the benefits package. I get like a $40/month discount off of my health insurance by participating in a couple of really simple health initiatives. With two major hospitals on campus, I would think they would have quite a lot of sports performance assessment resources.

  6. RUN

    good track workout 2.25 mi

1.25 mi warmup and 5x300 meter at 1:03/each--towards the lower end of the recommended pace for me using the McMillan Calculator. Wimped out and skipped the last rep. Glad to have Tim, Jamie, and ... read more

want to do a 5k time trial with me at freeman in the morning :-) Was going to do a tune up in Jackson but Heidi has an all day meeting and Isabelle's foot is hurt.

      I hit mid-range for mcmillan with a goal pace of 43:00 10k

      has lots of fun.

Just saw this post this morning. Sorry I missed it. I ended up taking saturday off entirely. I don't think I'm supposed to be running hard for at least another week. Little 300's are probably no big deal. But a 5K time trial would probably be counter-productive. I'll be at the group run tonight.

I figured you'd not be ready for the time trial. I actually only did two miles. Learning to start slower and work into race pace is my difficulty still. See you tonight

My difficulty is apparently running too fast at the start of a marathon, resulting in a second half implosion. 5K's are just pain and agony as far as I am concerned. :-)

wow, just looked at the profile to this race. Looks like a BMX race course. Great finish I bet those early hills took a toll. You had a lot of interesting things happen during your training for this one.

Did you see Nathan? Looks like he had a great first marathon. I had another friend from the portland area that looks like she blew up in the last half--must be a sneaky mean course.

Yeah, Nate passed me at around mile 24. I was right behind him going into the stadium, but he kicked a lot harder than I did. I'm sure he did much better than me. He started in corral C, while I weasled my way into corral B. It was sort of surreal that the volunteers tried to force me back into C. Pacer for 3:25 was in B. I argued with them for about 2-3 min.

Think if he actually trained! He doesn't look like an endurance athlete but he shows he has it. Must have been a fun finish in the iconic stadium. Im already dreaming about bolder boulder finish.
