great C25K w3.d2 1.95 mi 00:30 15:22 pace

AWESOME!! I am loving the #C25K !! I ran 3 minutes straight...twice...and it was amazing! The gym teacher at school gave me some advice (I was running on the balls of my feet) about my feet and my breathing. I really felt this run in my shins and not my calves...my arches are still bugging me but not too bad. I stretched and everything feels better.

Please share what your teacher said. Also, I went to my running store today to get advice about my shin splints and the girl said to watch the hills. They are killers on shins and calves. She also said stop and stretch after the 5 minute warmup walk and before running. Another piece of advice was to not run the same route every time but to alter a hilly route with a flat route.

I am not sure if I can put the breathing techniques into words - but basically in two counts, out two counts. He (gym teacher) also helped me with my feet. I told him my calves are sore and he told me I was running on the balls of my feet too much. He told me to transition more naturally from the walking to the running and concentrate in heel-to-toe. I did that today and my calves don't hurt as much but my shins are sore. I need new shoes, I think!

New shoes are really important! I went yesterday to a runners store, learned so much! If you go get new shoes find a shoe store specifically for runners it is worth it. So many little things you need to know. For example did you know I wear a size 8 shoe and in running shoes I need a size 10? Apparently it is that way for everyone. Your feet need the room. Also he told me to pump my arms keeping them close to my chest, it makes you run faster. Try it, with your shoulders back. Your awesome!!

2 whole sizes bigger! that is so weird! I am going to try and hit the running store soon! apparently anyold pair of running sneaks is not enough! I just found a store way closer than I thought (it was looking like the nearest store was over hour and a half a way! I was putting it off because of the $$ but I will go soon!
