      Something must have happened, Melanie. Did you do anything differently? Proper diet? Proper rest? Did you start out too fast? Proper shoes? Healthy? Did you do enough long runs prior to the race? Don't overreact; just evaluate! You'll come back strong. Despondency isn't helpful; Determination is. You'll be back!

      Felt I did everything properly- no changes from any of the other half I have done. I put in the miles prior to. I was more upset over how terrible and painful the whole race felt than just my time. I do these runs to enjoy them and try to prepare for them so they will be fun, but this was not the case for this one. I am going to take a step back from running for a bit and do some cross training for a while. How does the saying go- change is good for the soul. Keep up your great mileage Darrell!

      Melanie: I promise. We have all been there. Running is funny like that. We are physical bodies, not machines; as such, there is physical and emotional unpredictability. Cross training is good, but only running helps you run better, so don't "step back" too far. -:) Again, running is funny. Sometimes you just don't have it. The next day, you are flying. Just know I'm cheering you on.

    Travelling for my half on Saturday. Legs a little heavy. Not hydrating well otherwise we'd have a bathroom stop every 20 minutes. Next up- ice cream!!

    The altitude was a little tough on this prairie girl, but the scenery outweighed the pain. Will drop a 1000 ft in Calgary tomorrow.
