Had a nice ride with Eric M - daily miler from Greensboro up visiting for the holidays! I felt like crap cause I've been off the bike... slow going, but lots of fun. Sorry for the speed defici... read more

  3. Okay, back from Seattle... crazy week there with not one moment to myself, but hoping to get my legs moving tonight or tomorrow! Woohoo!

  4. Hey there loyal motivators. Thanks for the notes.

Maybe if you stop getting hammered at work you can get your work done quicker. Just out of curiosity, what's your drink of choice while on the job?

Have a good time in Seattle.

Yeah. I love those too. In fact, they get warmer than the Sidis which can be good or it could make your feet sweaty. But they are pretty pricey, so I did some math and determined for the number of times in winter in NYC that I need warm feet, it pays off over a couple years to get the Sidis... but depends on how many times you use them.

Actually, looks like they dropped the price. Well, if you buy them in bulk Michelle you are better off. The nice thing about the Sidi insole is that it doesn't make your shoe smaller. You replace your other insole.

When in the past, I bike commuted only 8 miles each way,
I found the ride over too soon to be much benefit. I wound up
deliberately changing the route to be longer and more pleasant.
Now if I were to bike commute, it is 22 miles each way. I only
managed this three times in the last 6 months. But next year will
be a new year, and I hope to bike commute more often then.

Once when I had to do business travel, but needed a workout,
the hotel I was in was at least 10 floors high. I would run up

Commuted to work today on the fixed gear because I couldn't bear to go another day without moving my legs. Cool air and oxygen felt great! Only 4 miles, but it is what it is.... :)

  8. Nothing's new with my training. Too damn busy to do anything. Can't even wash the dishes. My legs ache for my bicycle. Crap. :-(

Hopefully I'll get some riding in over the weekend...

An hour on rollers is worth 2 on the road in my book. Way to go Mary-lynne! You are making me think I need to unfold mine and jump back on. Which velodromes do you race at?

Currently I race at Kissena in Queens and Lehigh Valley Velodrome in Trexlertown, PA. Hoping to branch out and try some other when I have time, but those are the ones in NY. Do you race on the track?

Well, Saturdays are difficult because I do 3-4 hour long endurance rides those days. Tuesday night is supposed to be my climbing night according to coach. I may be able to especially if the weather is crap, but when the weather is good, I have to get base miles... or ride inside for base... We'll figure something out.

Climbing is great on a rainy day. If it doesn't work out, no biggie. Maybe my January travel schedule will lighten up.

Cool, can't wait to go climbing again. I won't be here next Tuesday (or pretty much any Tuesday), given my travel routine. Maybe on a Thursday or the weekend in a coupla weeks?
