I felt so strong on this run! And I think I've shaken the fear of 10+ miles now. Screw fear! I'm just gonna keep running! I was aiming at 2 hours and 15 minutes but did a little bit more than that. It's a beautiful day and not too hot - not even 80 degrees yet this morning. The rivers are pretty, the mountains are pretty, and the lush green trees are pretty too.
I tested a new gel - a homemade gel! It's made of wildflower honey, salt, a smidgen of protein powder, and some water to keep it liquid. I liked it a lot better than Gu actually and it's cheaper. I shook it up in an old, cleaned-out travel shampoo bottle. My body processed the protein surprisingly well with no tummy upsets. I'm starting to learn that marathon training is simply about being prepared with sunscreen and skin glide, fuel and water, sunglasses and bandanna. I'm feeling confident :D I called my lovely husband to pick me up when I hit my time goal. I don't want to overdo it.

Sounds perfect Mary! You're right about being prepared! When you start preparing days in advance for a long run (diet, rest, hydration, mindset, essentials, etc) it becomes a lifestyle... the marathon lifestyle (best in the world!)

Very nice mileage, Mary! Your homemade gu sounds tasty. Also, I'm going to steal your idea and try listening to a book or something when I run. Maybe that'll help me run longer and faster.
