  1. RUN
    15 mi 02:27 09:48 pace

This is a catch-all of about three different runs from earlier in the week that I was too lazy to enter individually. Not very representative I guess, but I keep my real training log on another sit... read more

This was the turnaround point from this morning's little jaunt through the desert.

  3. RUN
good Pima Canyon, AZ 5.9 mi 01:28 14:53 pace

Hilly, rocky, tough six-mile trail run in to Pima Canyon, just outside Tucson. I've never run this trail at this time of the year before, so the spring flowers and running streams in the middl... read more

Cheers! I realised later that I had a 14 minute negative split - uphill all the way in, downhill all the way back. I think that's my negative split PR!

    good Tucson 5 mi 00:50 10:02 pace

    Hot and hilly

  5. RUN
    good SF 12.8 mi 02:11 10:12 pace

Started OK, but felt more tired than usual towards the end. Got a cramp in my hamstring too, which is a first, but after I stopped for a moment and shook it out it didn't give me any more trou... read more

  6. RUN
good Down to the shops 1.96 mi 00:18 09:11 pace

Snuck an extra couple of hilly miles in doing errands.

  7. RUN
good San Francisco 6.74 mi 01:02 09:09 pace

Basically an easy reconnaissance run - I wanted to see where the running track at Kezar Stadium was. Found it, did a quick celebratory lap and then headed back.

Benefit of working from home - instead of a lunch break I can take a run break :)

  8. RUN
good San Francisco 5.21 mi 00:45 08:43 pace

Went for an SF version of a tempo run - on the flatter sections, I tried to hold the pace between 8:20 and 8:40, and then just dealt with the hills as they came. Felt great all the way.

  9. I was going to put up a finishing shot from Sunday's marathon, but it looks like the photographer missed me - for the second marathon in a row! This can only be a sign from above that I'm... read more

I don't actually care about the photo - I tend to look awful in race photos - but I'm getting a kick out of the photographer having missed me for two marathons in a row. If I didn't have the medals, no-one would believe I'd done them :) The challenge now is to try for a hat-trick. On my next marathon, I have to make a point of avoiding cameras.

I won't lie, this race beat the absolute crap out of me. It was my third marathon, but the first I've done on trails. And certainly the first I've done on rocky trails with 5000 feet... read more

  11. RUN
    good Marina 3 mi 00:29 09:46 pace

Easy, hilly recovery run. Also my first run since the strap on my 305 broke - happy to report that the duct tape held up!

  12. RUN
