Boston Marathon 26.2 mi 02:53 06:35 pace

This experience exceeded all my expectations and more. It definitely lives up to the hype that was built up this year. My goal was to see if I could hit 2:45, but my quads weren't cooperating and at about mile 15 I walked off a painful cramp. Basically my legs are wimps and need some more strength work.

From there I just kept the effort smooth and salvaged a potentially bad race. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this race and decided to just savor each moment. I didn't meet my potential but, don't have any regrets about backing off. Afterward I spent some quality time with Caleb M. and Jonathan and a bottle of Irish Whiskey.

Also, I've never been in such a supportive city for running as Boston. Random people on the street congratulated me, walking into restaurants the clients all applauded. Wow. Such a positive event.

Congratulations Mark! It may not have been the exact time you wanted, but what a strong, solid performance that you should be unbelievably proud of. I am thrilled to hear it exceeded your expectations--that is what matters and counts. Great, amazing job.

Great accomplishment even though you did not hit your goal. A sub 3:00 marathon is remarkable in my book. And being able to run the year after the 2013 tragedies is a singular opportunity that you will remember the rest of your life. Well done!
