Kid sharing the slow lane with me kept saying he was frustrated he couldn't finish a lap. I told him it took me a while and to be patient. He smiled and kept swimming.

They are, thank you. Fortunately, those I knew running were not close at the time, and lots of offices downtown are closed today, or have their employees log in from home.
