Met my pal Rachel on the Greenbelt today for a nice stretch out walk before we do the Big Horn 50 this Saturday. It was a good chance to chat about the course and pump each other up. My left hip wasn't feeling super great and my heart rate was still a bit high for this easy of a workout. Luckily, I still have the rest of the week to eat, rest and finish recovering before I hit the trails Saturday at the race. Hoping for the best.

I am feeling like my body is falling apart and did an easy 4 mile walk yesterday. I'm coming to find that it's part of the journey to a big race. You will do great and with 4 more days of rest I bet your legs and hip will be READY for some running and climbing and walking :) Any visits to the chiro planned for your hip?

Thanks, Amy. Nope. Money's tight, so I'll just stretch. Hope you're getting pumped!

dang it. You absolutely can do this Christie. What you did in Poc was a million times harder and you as much as finished. You won't have any problems with the cutoffs. You can power through the ups and relax in the flat/down. You are 100% capable and I'm sending my extra "pumped up-ness" to you :D xoxo Lets go get it girlfriend!!!

oh and I was saying "dang it" to the money being tight.

You guys are all going to do great while the losers who are staying home wonder how everyone is doing since race coverage will be horrible as usual!! I would much rather be there punishing myself than here punishing myself wondering how you are doing!!

Amy, I haven't got big doubts at the moment --- just a realistic view that my body is tired. The course is challenging (was last year especially with all the mud and water.) Hopefully it's better this year. Looking forward to this. No doubts in my head. Just going to take what the day (and my legs) have for me in those hours - no expectations except to have FUN, keep smiling and enjoy the day!

Ryan, I always prefer to be out taking a beating on a course than sitting around wondering how everyone's doing. It keeps the brain busy to be RUNNING! :D Pretty sure YOU will either be doing Shaffer or some other concocted crazy run during that anyways, so you'll be having FUN too!

I have been telling Dennis, "No pressure this time on either of us. Let's go take a road trip with some awesome pals and go for a run." Simple, happy mindset. :) I always race better when I relax!!! So, that's my secret weapon (that I did not have for Pocatello) - a laid-back attitude! Can't wait to see you off at the start of your great journey, Amy! I'll take PICTURES and cheer really LOUD!

Did we seriously walk over 5 miles this morning? Felt like nothing :) Great walk with you this morning Christie. I am feeling mentally relaxed and ready to rock it on Saturday. DNFing (short of getting mauled by a bear) is NOT an option! :-)

Haha, I know, Rachel! Having good company makes the miles fly by! We will not even mention the D word! :D Positive thoughts! Let's have FUN, eat, drink and keep moving and the rest will take care of itself!

Thank you, Steve! :) I noticed on the scale this morning that I am down 15 lbs from what I weighed before I did Big Horn last year. Hauling a bit less ME up and down those mountains should help I hope! :D
