  1. RUN
good Old Norwood Rd. 13 km 01:15 09:17 pace

I wore the feelmax for the whole run today. I have learned that -5°C and damp salty roads can cause problems for my feet. I'm still trying to find the best way for me to continue to run throug... read more

  2. RUN
good Old Norwood Rd. 15.5 km 01:30 09:20 pace

It was nice to be running in temperatures above freezing, but with the roads still heavily salted I wore the feelmax for the beginning and end of this run. Thanks for the company Doug.

  3. RUN
good Pub Run 10.5 km 00:55 08:25 pace

The wind made the -6°C feel a lot colder, so I opted for the Feelmax today. This was the first run of the year, but not the first barefoot run of the year for me.

  4. RUN
alright Pub Run 8 km 00:45 09:03 pace

I enjoyed the light dusting of fresh snow, but at -5°C I did not enjoy the salted streets and sidewalks. The run felt good for the most part, I just hope the salt effect didn't do any damage.

Salt when combined with snow or ice causes it to melt by dropping the temperature. That super cooled water/slush reaches and freezes parts of the feet that don't come in contact with the ground. It can also freeze deeper into the skin layers. Salt by itself on a dry surface isn't so bad.

  5. RUN
great Pub Run 7 km 01:00 13:47 pace

This was another enjoyable Runner's Life Holiday Fun Run. Thanks Dave! At -12°C, it was the warming sun, the dry conditions and the great aid station that made this barefoot run doable for me.... read more

  6. RUN
great Pub Run 7 km 00:40 09:11 pace

As long as the temperatures stay like this, I will be able to continue running barefoot in relative comfort. The rock salt on the sidewalks was the worst part of the run.

  7. RUN
good Old Norwood Rd. 17 km 01:50 10:24 pace

I decided to wear the Feelmax Kuusaas today because of all the ice and salt. I was planning on taking them off once I got to the not so salty country roads, but decided it would be easier to just l... read more

  8. RUN
good Jackson Park Path 15.5 km 01:30 09:20 pace

I was a bit nervous of the gravel trail today since I knew we were going to be running a bit longer and the air was a damp 1°C. It turned out that the gravel trail was covered with packed snow and ... read more

  9. RUN
alright Jackson Park Path 11 km 01:20 11:42 pace

That was first time I have run that far on gravel at a temperature that cold. The ground temperature at the start was -4°C which made the gravel feel that much more pokey. Once I got past the numbi... read more

  10. RUN
great Pub Run 9.5 km 00:52 08:48 pace

It was nice to have the snow melted off the streets and sidewalks with the 12°C temperatures, but I could do without the strong wind with 50km/h gusts.

  11. RUN
good Trent and Back 11 km 01:04 09:21 pace

The packed trail snow wasn't so bad at -5°C compared to the road and sidewalk snow that was several degrees colder due to the salt. Once I got on the trail, I was warmed up and the snow felt s... read more

      You're an Inspiration:

ice-melting chemicals (not salt, the other stuff) play hob with the feet.
i find it something like walking on lye!
anyway, hope you left lots of footprints in a fantastic pace!
btw, i hope you do what the pic says!

  12. RUN
great Jackson Park Path 10 km 00:55 08:51 pace

Considering this run was done at -5°C and on snow and gravel, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

  13. RUN
great Jackson Park - Hilliard Loop 10 km 01:00 09:39 pace

This was another run with some snow flurries falling and -2°C. My plan for the winter is to stay running so my feet will adapt as much as they can to the cold. I know from last winter that once I s... read more

  14. RUN
great Pub Run 6.9 km 00:42 09:47 pace

At 10°C, the temperature was nice for running tonight, but I prefer running in the daylight.

  15. RUN
good Trent and Back 10 km 00:50 08:02 pace

That was the first snow run of the season. The ground was just wet at 2°C but we had some snow falling from the sky. So the barefoot running winter conditioning has started. I just hope this winter... read more

  16. RUN
good Warkworth 8 Miler Race 13 km 01:16 09:24 pace

I was a bit slower this year. I blame that mainly on the fresh pea gravel that was spread on a large section of road. I find on the gravel I use twice as much energy to go half as fast. A fun race ... read more

  17. RUN
great Trent - Jackson Park Loop 15 km 01:16 08:09 pace

I managed to keep up with the fast crowd for 15k. The cooler air helped once I had warmed up. I hope it isn't any colder for Warkworth next weekend.

  18. RUN
great Jackson Park Path 5 km 00:25 08:02 pace

I lucked out with another warm night. They are hard to come by this time of year. 6x800m with a warm-up.

  19. RUN
great Pub Run 8.5 km 00:48 09:05 pace

Maybe it was the cooler temperatures, but I had a lot of energy on this run. I was able to keep up to the fast people (who were running slowly). I don't mind this weather for running and I hop... read more

  20. RUN
great Turkey Trot 10 km 00:55 08:51 pace

That was another great trail run through the Ganny. Thanks Lazer! It started with the rain, but turned into a nice day and the Hot Tub always feels nice after the run.
