  1. RUN
    good 14 km 01:50 12:38 pace

The crushed gravel is still a challenge but so was the heat today. I did half on gravel and half on concrete (with a couple of dirt trails here and there). It was just nice to be out in the warm su... read more

  2. RUN
great Pub Run 8.5 km 00:50 09:28 pace

I could feel a few stiff muscles from yesterday's 5k, but it was good to get out and keep the momentum going.

  3. RUN
good Kms for Care 5 km 00:24 07:36 pace

That was fun. Thanks to Tim for getting me on his team last minute. There were a lot of fast runners out today. It inspires me to get out more.

  4. RUN

The first gravel run of the year is always tough.

  5. RUN
great Pub Run 8.3 km 00:47 09:06 pace

At 21°C I enjoyed running shirtless in the blowing rain and the ankle deep mud.

  6. RUN
good Trent and Back 15 km 01:40 10:43 pace

That was the warmest run I've had this year, but I'm not complaining. I did notice the drop in energy however. I was also lured into the trails for some mud running. I look forward to mor... read more

  7. RUN
great Rotary Trail and Armour Hill ... 13 km 01:15 09:17 pace

The weather was too nice not to run tonight. Thanks to Coach Lisa for improvising a workout when I thought I was going to be out of luck.

  8. RUN
great Trent and Back 16 km 01:30 09:03 pace

I really felt that one. I managed to do 3½ of the fast pieces before my engines flamed out. That is now the longest run I've done this year. At least the sun made quick work of the snow we wok... read more

  9. RUN
good Tuesday Night Nicholls Oval Laps 10 km 01:00 09:39 pace

Those puddles are still numbingly cold.

  10. RUN
good North End Loop 13 km 01:20 09:54 pace

I took advantage of the warmer air today (5°C) and ran this 13k barefoot. However, the puddles are painfully cold and there are some big ones on the sidewalks and paths. The first 10k I ran easy. ... read more

  11. RUN
good Trent and Back 12.25 km 01:15 09:51 pace

It was a bit cold and damp. The fresh layer of wet snow was enough to get the salt shakers out so I ended up wearing the Feelmax. Even though it wasn't the best run, I'm glad I got out an... read more

  13. RUN
    great St. Patrick's Day 5k 5 km 00:24 07:40 pace

Not bad for the first race of the year. The last part of the race was salted ice, but other than that, the road was dry and warm.

      fantastic time!
i agree, salt (or more usually, other ice-melting chemicals) is not fun for bare feet.

  14. RUN
good Pub Run 8.5 km 00:50 09:28 pace

The warmer air and the extra hour of evening sun brought me out of my hibernation. For a comeback run I'll take it. If I'm not too sore tomorrow, I'll try to do the workout since the... read more

  15. RUN
good Old Norwood Rd. 13 km 01:15 09:17 pace

I wore the feelmax for the whole run today. I have learned that -5°C and damp salty roads can cause problems for my feet. I'm still trying to find the best way for me to continue to run throug... read more

  16. RUN
good Old Norwood Rd. 15.5 km 01:30 09:20 pace

It was nice to be running in temperatures above freezing, but with the roads still heavily salted I wore the feelmax for the beginning and end of this run. Thanks for the company Doug.

  17. RUN
good Pub Run 10.5 km 00:55 08:25 pace

The wind made the -6°C feel a lot colder, so I opted for the Feelmax today. This was the first run of the year, but not the first barefoot run of the year for me.

  18. RUN
alright Pub Run 8 km 00:45 09:03 pace

I enjoyed the light dusting of fresh snow, but at -5°C I did not enjoy the salted streets and sidewalks. The run felt good for the most part, I just hope the salt effect didn't do any damage.

Salt when combined with snow or ice causes it to melt by dropping the temperature. That super cooled water/slush reaches and freezes parts of the feet that don't come in contact with the ground. It can also freeze deeper into the skin layers. Salt by itself on a dry surface isn't so bad.

great Pub Run 7 km 01:00 13:47 pace

This was another enjoyable Runner's Life Holiday Fun Run. Thanks Dave! At -12°C, it was the warming sun, the dry conditions and the great aid station that made this barefoot run doable for me.... read more

  20. RUN
great Pub Run 7 km 00:40 09:11 pace

As long as the temperatures stay like this, I will be able to continue running barefoot in relative comfort. The rock salt on the sidewalks was the worst part of the run.
