ahh I can run again! Doc said I can run as long as it's "reasonable" distance and apparently 15 miles is not considered "reasonable" so I'm limited to 5-6 as long as I can do so with minimal pain and should also work on strength training quads and hamstrings... He said my alignment is not great and it could be bc of weak hips... apparently the little grooves are supposed to line up in the x-ray, not sure if you can see it but that's just what he said. so BASICALLY, no permanent injury, just need to do a little PT to learn some exercises and he prescribed an anti-inflammatory to use for the next couple weeks and then I can work up to running again! So really the main point is I CAN RUN AGAIN YALLLLL (and not worry that I'm hurting myself!)

Hooray--I think that's the best news you can expect to hear, given your recent history! Good plan to strengthen, and proceed conservatively, knowing that your condition is fixable over time.

I know i'm SO excited!! Glad I finally went... I was really thinking that I might not run again because there was something wrong. But that's not the case! I can be happy starting off slow but I'm just really happy it's nothing too serious :)))

    Strengthen, strengthen, strengthen!

Work on your core so it takes pressure off of your hips - if you do core, make sure you do the lower back as well.

Work on your ankles and legs in general....

You'll be up and going in no time if you do that :) Let me know if you want to go jogging with me on the weekends or something - I'd be game!

Lynn, you need to sign up for the TarHeel 10 Miler for next year! You have plenty of time to train - I am already signed up and can't even run yet. Pretty-please? It'll give you something solid to work towards :)
