great OBX Half Marathon! 13.1 mi 01:55 08:44 pace

What a day! I was super nervous all day Saturday leading into my 4th half marathon on Sunday. I knew I had put in the work so my legs were ready but I've been battling an unknown bronchitis-like monster for about a month and didn't feel confident I could work through it for 13.1 miles. BUT I DID! The OBX Half is known for being flat and fast -and flat and fast it was. The course primarily runs along a 4-lane highway but it's not as boring as it sounds. In fact, the views through the golf course and residential area were quite nice and the spectators along the way were surprisingly consistent. The only challenging portion in my opinion is the bridge in the last 3 miles but that didn't last so long to do any major damage. I was so happy with how it went and happy to get a half PR! I can't help but imagine what might be in store for me next spring if I keep up my base mileage through the winter : )
