Aw I have never had a baby, but I can sympathize with lack of motivation and running strength! I'm building back from an injury. Yeeeah my marathon a year ago is feeling like a dream. We'll get it back!!

I've noticed a lot of people who do a lot of triathlons are either young, like early 20s, or upper 30s. The late-20s/early 30s age groups often are poorly represented! Little kids, my guess!

Lily - things will get better soon and these tired and sleepless days will seem like they were short and not so bad. Your son is adorable and you should spend your time with him and not worrying about exercising if you really can't. It's important to get some "mommy time" too though. Take care!

You will. Can you order a diaper service? Or use disposables some of the time? Maybe a friend or hubby can help with the laundry? And eating is VERY important, especially when you're a new mommy. I found that keeping really easy, handy snacks in the fridge like mini peppers, cheese sticks, grapes, whole wheat crackers, almonds, protein bars, etc., helped keep energy levels up and depression from setting in. It's not gourmet but it works in a pinch. It's tough being a first time mom. Hang in there!

Take it easy Lily. The time will come. In the meantime, put your gorgeous boy in his buggy and just go for a walk. It will make you feel like you've done something and will be good for both of you. Enjoy him, he's beautiful.

You may be tired, but exercising actually brings out the opposite if you do it regularly. Do not give up so easily. I have faith that you can get back out there. See if you can get a membership to a local Y and use the child care so you have some "You" time. Walking with the stroller is also a great way to get back out there too.

My son isn't in daycare, and I don't really trust childcare. And I've gone walking regularly, and it exhausts me. I get to the point where I'm frantic from being so tired. I guess I have given up for now. I wake up multiple times at night, and even walking makes me tired. I barely eat, so I don't think I'll be getting out there with the stroller anytime soon. It's just too difficult now.

Too bad about the screaming fit, but it's awesome he likes the stroller! Think of all the places you can go! And I totally feel ya on needing courage to pack the stroller up and go somewhere other than out the front door-it can be a bit exhausting hauling kids around, but it's almost always worth the effort to get out there and 'see the world'. Happy running! ;)

Lily, I went through the same thing. I actually had post pardom depression. Went to a support group and that really helped. I got so tired of people saying, "Isn't it just wonderful being a mom?" When all I wanted to do was shut my eyes for a minute and not nurse, change a diaper or listen to a screaming infant. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. It is especially hard if you are used to working full time then all of the sudden that is gone, even temporarily. Keep up with the exercise, it will help.

Danielle, what's worse is that, after 6 weeks of trying nearly everything, I finally just decided that breastfeeding and pumping is too painful. Turns out I have something called "Reynaud's Phenomenon" and there's no cure- just remedies for the pain. At any rate, I'm also now taking my medication which I couldn't take while breastfeeding... it has helped with the PPD (I was also diagnosed with that), but I am struggling so deeply with giving my son formula.
