oh no. I'm so sorry. I was just reading in Runner's World yesterday that a sacral fracture presents as back pain and is often mis-diagnosed. I really hope you find some answers and relief.

  6. RUN
good San Antonio RnR 26.2 mi 05:21 12:15 pace

Started at about 47F, got hot as soon as the sun was up about 60F. So freaking hot. Was fighting cramps but I kept going to run it off. Painful but so worth it. A new PR for me.

  7. RUN
    2 miles 2 mi 00:21 10:17 pace

Last run before my full on Sunday. Nice crisp 45F morning. I hope temps would be the same on race day. Time to carbo load.

  8. RUN
    3 miles 3 mi 00:31 10:20 pace

Nice cool 50F morning. Easy 3 mile taper run.

Just a slow easy 3 miler this cold morning.

  10. RUN
    8 miles 8 mi 01:22 10:15 pace

Last long run before my full next Sunday. This was at 6am, about 45F, slight drizzle. Love the temp except the drizzle. I hope this would be the temp next Sunday.

  11. RUN
4 miles, Post Turkey Day 4 mi 00:43 10:43 pace

Easy 4 miler to burn off the calories I consumed yesterday. It was actually warm this morning about 73F. Felt like summer again, crazy TX weather.

Thanks Vira! Yeah I wish there would be a 20 deg swing next Sunday. It would be nice to run a marathon in the low 50s or lower.

    5 easy miles 5 mi 00:52 10:22 pace

Took it easy this morning to start my taper. Nice and cool 50F morning. I was a bit overdressed but that's okay. I'd rather be warm than freezing.

This is FANTASTIC. You can do it! That wall is awful but I have learned over the past 36 weeks that for me, the nausea is from being dehydrated and not taking in enough calories. I started adding gatorade every couple miles (in addition to gels) and drinking lots of water. I'm so excited for you!!!

  16. RUN
    5 miles 5 mi 00:50 09:59 pace

Late night run, decided to switch to evening runs this week. Nice and cool weather, the only thing I don't like evening runs is that cars are a little busier at night than early morning.

  17. RUN
    4 miles 4.2 mi 00:43 10:14 pace

Cold and wet 4 miler. Ran out the door and was warm, then cold front rolled in, strong winds, went down to 57F, then started to rain. Had to cut my 5 miles down to 4 because it was getting ugly.

  18. I have a question to those who have done several full. I'll be running my 3rd full on December 6th. I hit the wall on my first two with cramps, etc. Do any of you bring your own electrolytes? ... read more

Hitting the wall means you ran out of glycogen stores. Slowing down will help, but if you don't want to do that, then you need to start taking in calories from the start. Try to get in 200 Kcal/hour- which is tough to do through liquids alone. Bring along your favorite gels or blocks and begin eating early. Taking a gel at mile 18- well, it's too late then. Rock on and have fun!

When I used to run road marathons, I would sip on my gels very slowly. So I would eat one over the course of a couple of miles. And I never drank Gatorade, just water. I've never had leg problems or cramps except for one race but that was due to the course. There are electrolytes in gels as well - the problem is if it's very hot, then you need salts to absorb water and prevent cramps. Start drinking (water) earlier in the week, dehydration can cause cramps as well! And start slow if you can :)
