PR! PR! PR! After all the worry and stress about this race, I DID IT. Ran my fastest marathon by 1 minute and 30 seconds from San Diego Rock N Roll in June 2010.
All of the happy and loving thanks in the world to Rochelle for being my partner in crime today. We had a pace plan (9:12 for the first 5 miles, 8:52 for the next 15 miles, and whatever we could manage for the final 10K), and as you can see in the splits below, we did REALLY well!
Felt good from the start, which immediately eased my mind. I had a bit of a Garmin malfunction right before mile 8 (dropped in on the ground [don't ask] and snapped a piece off), and frantically found Jeffrey D. in the crowd to fix it for me. It threw off our game, and we had some catch-up to do that next mile, but everyone lived.
The last two miles were SO HARD for me. I seriously thought I'd just drop dead in the last mile. I was done. DONE. Pulled out whatever speed I had and crossed the finish arm in arm with Ro, where we immediately fell into a puddle of happy (and exhausted) tears. I DID IT.
So happy for all my friends who had GREAT races today, and all of the loves in the whole wide world to my biggest fans: mom, dad and Jeff. I love them so much for spending the day as my cheerleaders.
Oh, also, I got a GIANT blister and soaked the whole left half of my shoe in blood. Super rad. The end.
