great Day 5 - Crazy 8 Spring Series 13.1 mi 03:03 14:00 pace

Day 5 of Crazy 8: I walked the first mile to warm up, 1/1 intervals until mile 7, and 1/:30 to a strong finish. I felt way better than expected and less sore the further I ran. I'm shocked at how good I feel right now and that I'm hardly sore at all. Gotta love endorphins and active recovery :) I hope I still feel this good tomorrow. Starting slow, keeping a comfortable pace, and just focusing on finishing worked wonders; and I still negative split the halves (1:37:28 - 1:25:48) without really trying (see full splits at bottom of post).

The weather was not on my side this morning with heavy fog, wind, and rain, but I sucked it up and got it done. The rain eventually stopped and the sun came out to burn off the fog after I finished. One thing is for sure, this is great mental training for an ultra. I'm learning to run through sore and tired legs, sleepy, and less than optimal weather and its only making my resolve stronger.

This was lifetime half marathon #23 and Day 5 of Crazy 8 for a total of 71.7 miles in 5 days. With this race I begin my journey to Mars (level 5 of half fanatics: 3 halfs in 3 days) with a short stop in Jupiter tomorrow (level 4: 2 halfs in 2 days).

Half Splits (6:55): 1:37:28/ - 1:25:48
Quarter Splits (3.28): 50:40/15:24 - 47:06/14:22 - 44:03/13:25 - 41:37/12:46
Mile Splits: 17:13 - 14:50 - 14:30 - 14:22 - 14:11 - 14:43 - 14:01 - 13:20 - 13:29 - 13:12 - 13:19 - 12:33 - 12:35
