blah 3M Half marathon 13.1 mi 01:35 07:15 pace

I did a 2.5 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down. Felt decent during both. Arrived at the start at 5:40 - went out to warm up at 6:05. Race started just after 7am and I felt OK for the first couple of miles - normally I would be wondering why I was even there. Mile 1 7.36. Mile 2 was uneventful and flat - had to be long - 7.56. Mile 3 had to be short - please let it be short - 6.38. I think I saw the cheer girls from Liberty Hill HS for the first time around mile 3. They were amazing - I saw them at least 2 more times as they made their way down the course. Mile 4 - getting back to an appropriate speed - 7.04. Running down hill now - making sure I don't trash myself. Mile 5 was at the bottom of the down hill - 6.42. Now the road flattens out and I feel like I am running soooo slow - 7.31 - apparently I am. Now the course snakes through some neighborhoods - slows me down because of all the turns but looks like I'm running at the pace I should be 7:31. I did run a PR for 10K today - 45 and change so that was cool. Tried to smile and look like I had good running form for the cameras. The worst part of the course is now - North Cross Dr and Burnet Rd. Quite a bit of gradual uphill - Burnet seemed to go on longer than I remember - Mile 7.25 - slow. Took a GU somewhere in here. Just before North Loop - a police car that was on a non race related emergency call tried to cross the runners about 200m in front of me - I could not believe that runners instead of slowing for a few seconds actually ran in front of the car. I saw another car coming with sirens and lights and yelled at some bystanders to move some barriers and direct runners away from the police. Mile 8 7.20. Now running up North Loop's Hills - feeling pretty good. Andy passes me with his awesome red, black, white racing uniform on - looks awesome. Mile 9 7.24 - uphill. Mile 10 7.01 - start of my attempted acceleration to the finish. Downhill now and feeling OK. Mile 11 - one short uphill - slowed down a little but OK - 7.11. Strarting to hear my legs say hell no - heading into UT campus - mile 12 to finish 7.52. My legs were like logs during the last 1/2 mile - really hard to have a smoking fast finish. Overall time 1:35:01.

Thanks guys. Michael. I run with a fairly competative group and I am very competative, I was hoping to finish in 1:33 at the slowest - just not my day. I see you at Austin - I'm running the marathon super easy.
