    Oakland Aquabike - Bike 40 km 01:25 17.5mph pace

1:25ish; the official result only has time of day and I'm too lazy to do math. Considering the course had literally 24 turns in each 12-mile loop, I'm pretty pleased with this. Yes, it wa... read more

Thanks, current! Honestly, looking at other results of people my age, I should have been able to take this even faster. I think I swung too wide on the long (faster) part of the course.

    Burn - Kerry 00:55

I had my foot taped at PT yesterday and it made a noticeable difference at Burn — I could do a lot more than last time I went. Still tried to hold back so I wouldn't do too much, but, progress... read more

I was surprised how much of a difference it made, in the short term if not the long term.

Christina -- if only I knew! it has been diagnosed as 3 different things so far but seems to be basically "plantar fasciitis plus." The most recent theory is that the actual injury is to the padding of my heel and everything else just spiraled out from there...

    Mission Cliffs

Quick but good session with 5 routes: 5.7 warmup, 5.10b, 5.10a, 5.10c that I maybe got halfway up, 5.10c that I finished -- my first 10c of this particular return to climbing!

    Koret 2100 yd 00:51 42:44 pace

Main set of 300, 3x100, 200, 2x100, 100, 100 fast. A few flip-turns in there (continuous during the 200). I think I spun the other direction this time and it made more sense.

    good Hotel Pool run 00:30

One great thing about being short is being able to pool-run in 5 feet of water. Made it 30 mins before deferring to the couple who clearly wanted me to go so they could start making out.

I went a lot more when I was scared of riding outside, and damn, every time I go back to spin, I get more glad I got over that.

Haha, I was guilty of the same thing recently when I posted on FB that my SF1HM time was my "personal worst". A friend from grad school commented that my finish time was still better than his PR. A good reminder that it's all relative.

This conversation reminds me of when a friend saw Kara Goucher at a running store talk and someone asked how she fuels for marathons. Welllll, that person was thinking of a five-hour run, but Kara's marathon time is less than 2.5 hours and she has her own bottles waiting for her on the course. She didn't know how to answer. Yep, it's all relative!

Hey, I just started playing with flip turns too. Don't they feel awkward until you get one or two that just *click* and you're like YESSS, until the next wall which sucks again. Or maybe it's just me. Hopefully soon they'll feel natural for both of us. :)
