Marking this one as good, because it's finished, and I'm not actually injured. I hit the road about 4:45 AM, and this run never really caught on for me. The first five were okay, but slow, and I just could not get a faster pace to work. After that, it was mostly a struggle to keep my pace below a 12 minute mile. I managed that, but only just.
On the up side, there always seem to be a couple of really bad runs during my training cycle, so this one's out of the way. More importantly, these runs are where you figure out how to deal with it when race day goes badly. So, no, I don't regret this one. Also, tomorrow's another 10 miler, and another chance for a good run.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Great long run Keith. It's done and behind you. :)

Seeing as how I am a shit friend on here for several months, I have NO CLUE what you're training for. All I know is that now I am a "Real Ultra Runner" (like you...) I can't seem to get myself to RUN anything. I want to walk/run/jog/lollygag/skylark/horseplay/eat/drink/talk for a zillion miles instead. SOOOOooooOOO, this looks like a FREAKING AWESOME run to me! You should have a beer or three tonight. Have fun on your 10 tomorrow!

Wow! Keith! That's a loooong run! And it takes major will power to get up in the middle of the night to go run in the early hours. I would not call it a fail even if you did not quite feel it. There are good days and then there are even better days! :)
Good job!

I can definitely relate to those kinds of runs! I had one like that just two weeks ago. You have the most awesome attitude, and yes, you got it done! All miles count - way to go!

That's a crapload of miles. Not to even mention you didn't want to do any of the miles? Marathon in 3 weeks?

For not feeling like the run ever really caught on those are some awesome miles, Keith. Will have to remember this outlook when I start moving toward my longer distances and keep in mind that they're opportunities to figure out how to persevere when things don't go as planned.
