After my swim and Ben's swim team practice, we jumped straight into the car and I ferried him to his third sports activity of the day: basketball practice. I, of course, went for my usual trail run. Holy moly, I have *never* been attacked by that many horse flies. An otherwise fun but steamy run was overshadowed by relentless horsefly and deerfly attacks! Living in North Carolina I'm used to them, but I'm telling you- this was off the hook. At mile one, I stopped the Garmin and stood still for a particularly vicious horsefly, playing I'm-going-to-stand-here-and-smack-myself-silly-until-I-defeat-you. It took a while but I got him. At 3.35 miles, I was getting so many hard bites I finally called it quits and walked, just so I could concentrate on wildly swinging my arms and smacking the little devils when they bit me. It must have been the two days of rain; I've never had that problem on the Briar Chapel trails before.

They were cheering you on!! Seriously though, great run!

Ouch, been bitten a couple of times, definitely remember that pain. Guess you got an arm workout as well.

I had that happen to me in NH last year while camping, instead of stopping I thought I should just run faster and get the heck out of there I brought back a few still attached to my shirt!

That was just amazing. I thought about sprinting back- maybe I should have- but I was getting the heck bitten out of me and went for maximum effort expended on swinging the arms around my head and body.

You got a great work out. The bugs are nasty this year due to the warm winter we had. Pesky bugs can ruin a good run. At least you got something in though.
